While likely not at the forefront of the minds of most people in Alabama, an inherent risk of experiencing a car accident exists every time one gets behind the wheel of their vehicle. Yet most probably do not give this risk a second thought due to the presumption that the other drivers they share the road with care as much about accident avoidance as they do.
Sadly, there are circumstances where that does not prove to be the case. All too often, people end up suffering needlessly due to the careless actions of negligent motorists.
Car fleeing accident causes second collision on Cobbs Ford Road
A recent collision in Elmore County illustrates this point. Per the local NBC affiliate, a car fleeing from an earlier collision then crashed into another vehicle. The collision caused the ejection of two of the passengers in the fleeing vehicle (as both were not wearing seatbelts), resulting in injuries that ultimately killed both. The driver of the fleeing vehicle and two other passengers also sustained injuries in the collision, as did the driver of the vehicle they struck. Reports did not specify the reason why the driver chose to flee from the scene of the earlier accident.
Compensation for negligent action
When a driver demonstrates negligent action to the degree shown in this particular case, accident victims may have cause to pursue a liability claim. The ultimate goal of such action is typically to mitigate the financial impact of an accident, from covering medical and repair costs to helping compensate for the support provided by one killed in a collision. Yet earning compensation following a car accident can be a complex process. Thus, those hoping to do so may be well-served to secure a reliable source of legal assistance.
